Sanders Leads Entire Distance in Winter Meltdown Finale

Firing from the outside pole of the Wehrs Machine A Feature Saturday night at Vado Speedway Park, Rodney Sanders led every lap en-route to the $3,000 payday and his first win of the season.

“I definitely messed up last night and should have went higher in three and four and Jake just basically out drove me,” Sanders said in victory lane. “He did a good job. I was just trying to make sure that didn't happen tonight. I felt like we had a good car. We changed some stuff from last night and I was happy with it.”

Sanders, like so many in attendance this weekend, has nothing but the highest of appreciation for track owner and fellow competitor Royal Jones.

“I like coming our here,” Sanders further discussed. “Royal definitely helps us out. He's just great for the sport. Anytime we can, we just try to come out here and race.”

Local standout Nick Rivera made the top six redraw both nights and Saturday night finished a strong runner up. Gary Christian had his second good night in a row and rounded out the top three. Nathan Smith put together a solid night and finished fourth, with Joe Duvall ending the feature fifth.

Heat race victories went to Nick Rivera, Jimmy Ray, Chase Hatton and Royal Jones.
